Let’s Make This Simple

Smoothie Ingredients:

Greens

Place your favorite greens into a blender container that will accommodate our usual 24 oz. size blenderized masterpiece. [Dr John favors Kale which you may mix with any green like Spinach, Beet Greens and /or Arugula for example]. Fill the container with your greens to ¾ the desired drink volume.

Fruit:

In the upper ¼ of the leftover space add these other ingredients. Do not overfill your blender.

Fruit Smoothie Ingredients:
Most smoothies are made with fruit. Fruits examples are: Apple, Orange, Mango, Berries (Straw-, Black, Ras-, Blue-), Figs, Apricots, Peaches, or Banana. They may be frozen or fresh.
Non- Fruit Smoothie Ingredients:
You may decide to make a blender drink using non-fruit ingredients. Examples include Tomatoes, cooked Beans, Old Fashioned Oats, chopped Carrots, Peppers, Sweet Potato, or cooked Beets.
Place these ingredients in the top ¼ of your container.

Sweetener:

Add 3 to 4 sliced Medjool. or 7 or 8 smaller Deglet dates. These are Dr John’s favorite sweetener for smoothies. Instruction: Cut each of the dates into 3 pieces and place them into a small glass. Cover the date pieces with water. Microwave 30 to 60 seconds; and let stand for at least 10 minutes before adding them to blender. You may alternatively use 2 Tbsp of molasses, maple syrup, or agave nectar if you like. Stevia is acceptable.

Water:

Add filtered water until it is above the level of the greens in the blender.

Flavoring and Seasonings:

You may add none or a few seasonings. Use your imagination:

Seasonings for Fruit Smoothies: Cinnamon, Allspice, Nut Meg, Clove, Vanilla Extract, among others are all wonderful.

Seasonings for Non-Fruit Smoothies: Cumin, Cardamom, Curry Powder, Onion Powder, Dill, Hot Pepper Sauce and others are all great.

Chocolate:  Use a couple of teaspoons of pure dark ground coco  with. Chocolate is antioxidant rich. Please avoid using milk chocolate, packaged hot chocolate or coco mixes. They add milk products and lots of refined sugar to these items. Carob Powder: Carob powder is a tasty alternative to chocolate. It has no caffeine😊.

Blending your Smoothie:

Dr John blends his smoothies fo less than 20 seconds to retain as much intact healing intact fiber as possible in his smoothies. Yes, this adds significant granularity to the drink. Most people blend 1 minute or longer  your desired  smoother consistency; but, too much blending degrades the precious fiber. Dr John

*Water Filter: We have a Whole House GE Smart Water filter placed where the main water line enters the house. There are better, and far inferior systems on the market. Ours removes fine particulates, much of the chlorine, and some other contaminants from the water. Dr John
